What are your published works, and what are you working on?

I am the author of The Zombie Girl Saga, a quadrilogy all about Eve and her misadventures as she slowly turns into something a little less human every day! It was super fun creating the series and now that it’s done I’m doing some shorter stories until I build up enough courage to start my next series. I have another short story coming out this spring called Island of The Dead, it will be in the Women of Horror Anthology: Beautiful Nightmares, put together by Vamptasy Publishing, I’m so excited to be part of this crew of very talented ladies!

If someone was just hearing about you for the first time what 1 thing would you want them to know?

I would want them to know that I am a super fangirl and add pop culture and quirk to everything I do. Everything I write is a product of what I’ve grown up reading and writing and I think that’s very evident when you read my work.

Did you always want to be a writer?

Absolutely! Creativity is in my blood! I always had a great imagination and books would just come to life for me! Writing started when I picked up a journal for the first time and soon became bored with writing about the truth and started filling it with fiction. That’s where my writing journey started and hasn’t stopped yet!

What has been the biggest adventure of your life?

Having kids! It’s such a strange and amazing thing that I made two tiny humans. I look at them every single day and just sit back and think, wow, I made these little things! Sure, I bring the characters in my story to life, but nothing like this! They are the most hilarious kids and they constantly keep me entertained and on my toes. I think kids can teach you a lot about yourself, I completely credit my son for getting me to finally publish something! I thought to myself, if I don’t go and reach for my dreams, how can I ask him to? They inspire me daily and that adventure has only just begun!

If zombie apocalypse were to happen tomorrow would you be prepared?

If you’re asking if I have a “plan,” the simple answer is YES! Ha ha, I have a plan A and plan B for an impending apocalypse. You can’t be a zombie author without at least thinking about this a few hundred times a day!

What 3 things do you feel everyone should have to be ready for a survival situation?

Water, a lighter and a weapon that won’t need reloading! We all know you can’t go as long without water as you can without food, and if you had to choose, water would be essential, you could always scavenge for food. A lighter is great for starting fires to cook and stay warm, especially if there’s no electricity in this survival situation. Lastly, guns only work if you have ammo, and eventually that always becomes scarce (I’ve seen enough apocalyptic films/shows to know!). So if you have something like a bat or crowbar, you might be better off, plus…they’re quiet…zombies tend to flock to noise.

Who would you want with you if civilized society fell apart?

Other than my family, can I choose The Avengers? I think superheroes would be our best bet for survival! If not, I’ll take an army of WWE wrestlers, they’re fit enough to fight their way through anything!

What 2 books would be in your bug out bag, knowing you would have to read them over and over?

I never get sick of Edgar Allan Poe, so one collection of his greatest works and the second would be a collection of fairytales, because when there is darkness we need something lighter, something that gives us hope, and sometimes a simple story with a grand ending is enough to inspire a hero to rise.

If we were thrown into the dark ages what would you miss most?

I would miss music, sure we could get all creative and come up with ways to craft instruments and make our own music, but technology has helped us make some amazing tunes, and I would be sad to never hear a perfectly manicured track again.

What is the most surprising fact about you?

Surprising? Hmmm…nothing shocking to report…other than I have the same initials as my father and that’s why I go by A. Giacomi, it’s a way to honour his memory and keep him with me always. He was always very supportive of my creativity and I know he’d be very excited to see me writing and building worlds. He would never want me to forget that part of myself.
