What are your published works, and what are you working on?
My first published book is Green Sunday, published on amazon. I’m currently working on editing and proofreading and getting the cover ready for the sequel and on the start of a new crime series in the same vein as the Darkly Dreaming Dexter books.
If someone was just hearing about you for the first time what 1 thing would you want them to know?
I’d want them to know that I’m actually probably insane and that means whenever you read anything I have you know you’re gonna be reading stuff you never thought feasible. It’s in my nature to be as unpredictable as possible so every story I write will subvert your expectations at every turn.
Did you always want to be a writer?
I always wanted to write but I got it into my head I needed to be a character from a book before I wrote one, but I realised all the experience I needed was right there in the pages of every book ever written. I started small with comics and eventually worked my way up to just straight up prose.
What has been the biggest adventure of your life?
This right now is the biggest adventure in my life, I’ve been a lot of places, I was born in Africa already a transplant, I tracked loved and adventure to a few places but nothing really comes close to the adventure that goes on in my head when I write. And nothing comes close to the risk and excitement of throwing everything behind my skill and passion.
If zombie apocalypse were to happen tomorrow would you be prepared?
I have my own armory, no guns sadly (UK) but pretty much everything else, crossbows, swords, machetes, axes, knives, shovels. I’ve got a decent store of cans and my house is secure and I don’t live in an urban block so the horde will be thinner here so I should be good. I’m surrounded by farms with local produce so I should be able to trade weapons for food. I have water filtration stuff but I don’t think I’ll need to store much more. It’s just a hobby really, I just like to collect the weapons and fantasize while I watch walking dead haha.
I really used to think it was gonna happen for a long time and my book is sort of the product of my realisation that I was just losing my mind haha. It’s kind of a way of making fun of myself.
What 3 things do you feel everyone should have to be ready for a survival situation?
A big knife, a samurai sword and a cheesegrater haha.
Who would you want with you if civilized society fell apart?
Someone who could cook and maybe get some shit done and might be a bit tasty in a fight, so yeah, Gordon Ramsey pretty much.
What 2 books would be in your bug out bag, knowing you would have to read them over and over?
Oh definitely 1984, that is a book that is so important to the way I think and how I see the world and it has important lessons that should be read and studied over and over and probably the Dexter books because I love Dexter. Just the first one if I can only have one haha.
If we were thrown into the dark ages what would you miss most?
Toilet paper and not dying from easily treatable illnesses.
What is the most surprising fact about you?
I know kung fu, no seriously, I actually know kung fu.
