Julien Saindon #ReanimatedWriters Interview

What are your published works, and what are you working on?

To date, I have only one self-published work—it’s called Electronics of the Dead. It’s available on Amazon. I am currently working on the sequel. I’m always writing short stories and reading rejections. I think that short works of fiction is just as powerful as novels.

If someone was just hearing about you for the first time what 1 thing would you want them to know?

So far, my work is sci-fi/zombie apocalypse, but more leaning toward horror genre. I love to blend technology and horror. My writing is very technical at times, and I’ve tried to dial it down, but just know that it’s worth it to read through it.

Did you always want to be a writer?

Since my teens, I’ve always written short stories and poems for a hobby, and now that I’m in my dirty thirties I’m starting to write with goals and initiative.

What has been the biggest adventure of your life?

My biggest on-going adventure is my job. I have been a paramedic for the past ten years, and every shift brings new weird and interesting situations. I’ve brought people back from the dead—with a defibrillator, and I’m obsessed with reading about it also, so…it works out.

If a zombie apocalypse were to happen tomorrow would you be prepared?

I would not be prepared at all. I live in a densely populated area with no guns, no crossbows and no high ground. And a pair useless cats. It’s O.K., because I would be very useful as a zombie, especially to my noisy neighbors that drive their dirt bikes at one o’clock in the morning!!

What 3 things do you feel everyone should have to be ready for a survival situation?

Common sense, good shoes and a pickup truck with a machine gun bolted to the bed.

Who would you want with you if civilized society fell apart?

Probably Ernie the embalmer (Don Calfa) from Return of the Living Dead. Because who doesn’t want a German mortician walking around in a blood-stained apron holding a Luger. Sadly, he passed away last year. R.I.P. Don Calfa.

What 2 books would be in your bug out bag, knowing you would have to read them over and over?

NOS4A2 by Joe Hill and The girl with all the Gift by M.R. Carey.

If we were thrown into the dark ages what would you miss most?

Oh, I don’t know, maybe living in the 21st century??

What is the most surprising fact about you?

I’m not that surprising.
